Killara High School Micro credentialing Hub

Welcome to the Killara High School Micro credentialing page!

What are micro credential courses?

In today's rapidly evolving world, micro credentialing offers our students a unique opportunity to acquire valuable enterprise skills that are essential for success in the future of work. As the global job market continues to transform at an unprecedented pace, employers increasingly seek candidates who possess a diverse set of skills beyond academic achievements. They want individuals who can adapt, innovate, and contribute meaningfully in a rapidly changing landscape.
Micro credential courses also enable students to explore careers and interests before committing to a formal tertiary course or job opportunity.

Also known as 21st-century skills or transferable skills, enterprise skills encompass a range of abilities that go beyond subject-specific knowledge. They include critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, creativity, adaptability, resilience, and digital literacy. These skills form the bedrock for success in any professional endeavor, enabling students to navigate complex challenges, seize emerging opportunities, and thrive in an interconnected world.

Why are enterprise skills so crucial for the future of work?

The answer lies in the transformative forces shaping our society. Advancements in technology, automation, and artificial intelligence are revolutionising industries, redefining job roles, and creating new ones. The jobs of tomorrow will demand individuals who can leverage technology effectively, think critically in ambiguous situations, collaborate across diverse teams, and continuously learn and adapt to changing circumstances.
Micro credentialing provides our students with a pathway to develop and showcase these enterprise skills. By earning micro credentials in specific areas of expertise, students can demonstrate their competence, dedication, and passion beyond traditional academic achievements. These micro credentials offer tangible evidence of their capabilities and serve as a valuable currency in the job market, college applications, and lifelong learning journeys.
We are committed to helping Killara High School students navigate the world of micro credentialing. We provide a range of resources, information, and guidance to empower you in selecting, pursuing, and earning microcredentials that align with your interests and aspirations.

This free online course, The business of film, will show you how film production works. It has been created with Pinewood Studios – the leading provider of studio services to the global screen-based industries.

Using the value chain concept and film case studies, with input throughout from individuals involved in making those films, the course provides a practical, in-depth exploration of how film financing works, and the key business decisions that are made along the way.

It addresses questions like:

  • Why do films fail?
  • Why are intellectual property and copyright important?
